Hardwater (Limescaling)

Water is said to be hard when it contains high concentartions of inorganic minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium. Hard water makes washing difficult because the minerals combine with soap to form a greasy film on clothes, dishes and skin. It also causes scale build-up in plumbing fittings and hot water cylinders, causing elements to burn out or run inefficiently with increased power consumption. The high levels of calcium and magnesium minerals often leave unsightly marks on glassware, kettles and windows of houses and vehicles.

The problems of hard water can be solved using a water conditioner/softner, but choosing the correct type or size of system will depend on the results of your water test and your volume of water use.  Systems are available for consumption water only through to whole farm applications.
