Ultraviolet Sterilisers (UV)
If you suspect or know that you have bacterial contamination of your water, we recommend using ultraviolet sterilisation for guaranteed elimination of harmful bacteria and viruses (such as E.Coli, Hepatitis, Legionella, Salmonella, etc.). The UV light at the wavelength generated by the lamp inside the Crystal Pure ultraviolet unit is lethal to all micro-organisms, as it damages their ability to reproduce. The organisms are then no longer able to cause infection or spread disease.

Using the Crystal Pure UV system eliminates the need for sterilising chemicals, such as chlorine and chlorine mixtures, as these chemicals, when mixed with organic matter, will produce trihalomethanes (THM’s), which are carcinogenic. The use of UV has no side effects, such as found with chemicals, and UV has several times more disinfectant efficiency than chlorine or chlorine mixtures.
Adequate pre-filtration is required before the UV unit to ensure that particulate matter does not shield micro-organisms from the UV light as they pass through the chamber, with 20-micron being the recommended minimum. 1-micron pre-filtration is recommended for protozoan cyst removal such as Giardia or Cryptosporidium, which are present in some water supplies such as surface waters and rainwater tanks. These protozoan cysts can be deactivated with Crystal Pure UV systems, however, significant reductions in the flow rates are required.
The important factor when selecting the correct system is the peak flow rate, which is the maximum throughput of water at any one time - not average daily use, which is much lower.

Fits under the kitchen sink with a separarte faucet for consumption water only. Gives your “drinking” water protection from harmful bacteria and viruses, and can be added to any underbench water purifier.
Single Tap UV Steriliser (ST-UVSS)
Suitable for single tap use or small cottage/bach situation.
Whole House UV Steriliser (WH-UVSS)
Suitable for whole house use.
Farm, Dairy Shed, Motel, Campground UV Steriliser (CM-UVSS)
Suitable for multiple houses, motels, campgrounds and farm situations, such as a dairy shed.

Ultraviolet sterilisers are only designed to kill bacteria and will not eliminate any other contaminants in your water supply. If you require other contamiants to be removed from your water supply, such as tastes, odours, chemicals, etc. please contact us for a recommendation.
